This workshop offers participants an engaging introduction to Bunraku, a traditional form of Japanese puppet theatre. They will learn about its history, the expressive power of the puppets and the interaction between movement, music and storytelling.

The workshop also demonstrates how a Bunraku puppet is controlled and brought to life, the roles performed by the puppeteers, and the concentration, precision and teamwork required for a performance. Participants will also have the opportunity to learn and try out the basic principles of puppet manipulation themselves.
