In this workshop, LIAN, the artist behind “Rabenfluch”, which received the Tancho Award at the Leipzig Book Fair in 2026, will show you how to guide your readers’ eyes through effective paneling and how to structure your manga or comic pages in a clear, understandable, and impactful way.

You will be introduced to the most important basics of visual storytelling and reading flow: How do panels work? Where should speech bubbles be placed? What role do eye direction, page composition, and other visual elements play? Through practical examples, you will learn how to design your pages so that story, atmosphere, and reading flow come together effectively.

At the end of the workshop, there can be a short feedback session for pages brought by participants. These pages should be submitted in advance by e-mail to lars.cramer@main-matsuri.com, so that LIAN can respond to them in a focused and helpful way.

Participation is open to ages 15 and up.
